Althea Aphrodite
Althea Aphrodite, also known as Hibiscus syriacus 'Aphrodite', is a beautiful and popular flowering shrub that is known for its large, pink blooms and its long blooming season. It is a hybrid of the Rose of Sharon (Hibiscus syriacus) and is named after the Greek goddess of love and beauty, Aphrodite.
Althea Aphrodite typically grows to be 8-10 feet tall and wide. It has a dense, upright habit of growth and glossy, green leaves. The leaves are oval-shaped and have a serrated margin. In the summer and fall, Althea Aphrodite produces large, single-ruffled flowers. The flowers are typically pink, but can also be white or lavender. The flowers have a magenta throat and are attractive to bees and butterflies.
Althea Aphrodite is a relatively low-maintenance plant. It prefers full sun to partial shade and well-drained soil. It is also drought-tolerant once established. Althea Aphrodite does not require much pruning, but it can be pruned in the late winter or early spring to remove dead or damaged branches and to maintain its shape.
Althea Aphrodite is a great choice for a variety of landscaping uses. It can be planted as a single specimen shrub, in groups, or in borders. It can also be used to create a privacy screen or a windbreak. Althea Aphrodite is also a good choice for planting in containers.

Note: The plant is shipped in its pot, firmly secured with several layers of clear tape, thereby avoiding any shuffling and moving during transit. The plant reaches you with minimal damage- very safe and secure. We have been shipping plants like this for several years (plant are sometimes shipped in smaller pots for safety and ease of shipping). Most plants go dormant in fall and winter and will lose most of their leaves - looking dead and dry - very normal. They will flush out in spring.
We cannot send ship some plants and some sizes to California due to restrictions placed by department of agriculture.
