The Somerset Red Maple - Acer rubrum 'Somerset' - will add a beautiful, bright red color to your yard every fall. This cultivar is a cross between the Acer rubrum 'October Glory' and A. rubrum 'Autumn Flame' which will bring a unique beauty to your yard in the fall with a full canopy of red leaves, that last longer than many other maples. It has even shown to have a long lasting fall color as far south as Georgia. The Somerset Red Maple is a very popular shade tree because it grows quickly and has outstanding fall color. It also branches very well as a young tree developing a uniformed, oval form at maturity. Plant this tree in your yard if you want to light up your neighborhood in the fall, reduce your cooling bill in the summer, provide habitat for songbirds or experience great tree climbing.
