Robin Hill Conversation Piece' Azalea

Robin Hill Conversation Piece Azalea (Rhododendron x Robin Hill 'Conversation Piece') is a beautiful and popular azalea cultivar that is known for its abundant blooms of multicolored flowers in the spring and fall. It is a hybrid of the Rhododendron x Robin Hill series, which was developed in the 1960s by the University of New Hampshire.

Conversation Piece Azalea typically grows to be 3-4 feet tall and wide. It has a mounded habit of growth and dense, evergreen foliage. The leaves are small and elliptic, with a glossy sheen. The flowers are borne in clusters on the branches and are a variety of colors, including pink, white, and lavender. The flowers are also often variegated, with multiple colors on the same bloom. Conversation Piece Azaleas bloom in the spring and fall, and can rebloom several times throughout the growing season.

Conversation Piece Azaleas are relatively low-maintenance plants. They prefer full sun to partial shade and well-drained soil. They are also drought-tolerant once established. Conversation Piece Azaleas do not require much pruning, but they can be pruned in the late winter or early spring to remove dead or damaged branches and to maintain their shape.

Conversation Piece Azaleas are a great choice for a variety of landscaping uses. They can be planted as single specimen plants, in groups, or in borders. They can also be used to create a privacy screen or a windbreak. Conversation Piece Azaleas are also a good choice for planting in containers.

Here are some tips for growing Conversation Piece Azaleas:

  • Choose a planting site that receives full sun to partial shade and has well-drained soil.
  • Amend the soil with compost or other organic matter before planting.
  • Water regularly, especially during the first growing season.
  • Fertilize in the spring with a balanced fertilizer.
  • Mulch around the base of the plant to help retain moisture and suppress weeds.
  • Prune in the late winter or early spring to remove dead or damaged branches and to maintain the shape.

With proper care, Conversation Piece Azaleas can be a beautiful and rewarding addition to any landscape.

Note: The plant is shipped in its pot, firmly secured with several layers of clear tape, thereby avoiding any shuffling and moving during transit. The plant reaches you with minimal damage- very safe and secure. We have been shipping plants like this for several years (plant are sometimes shipped in smaller pots for safety and ease of shipping). Most plants go dormant in fall and winter and will lose most of their leaves - looking dead and dry - very normal. They will flush out in spring.

We cannot send ship some plants and some sizes to California due to restrictions placed by department of agriculture.

Please note that the plant will be shipped in its pot, securely fastened with multiple layers of clear tape to prevent any shifting or damage during transit. This ensures that the plant arrives to you with minimal damage, safely and securely. We have been employing this method for shipping plants for several years, occasionally using smaller pots for added safety and convenience during transit. It's important to understand that many plants enter a dormant state during the fall and winter months, resulting in the loss of most leaves and appearing dry or lifeless. This is a natural process, and come springtime, they will begin to regrow and thrive once again. Please be aware that due to regulations set by the Department of Agriculture, there are certain plants and sizes that we are unable to ship to California. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
