Reka Blueberry Shrub Plant is a delicious fruit that grows in zones 4-8. It's naturally grown and reaches a size of 4-6 feet tall. Enjoy fresh or in baked goods!

Reka Blueberry

Reka Blueberry (Vaccinium corymbosum 'Reka') is a northern highbush blueberry cultivar that is known for its early ripening, medium-sized fruit, and vigorous growth. It was developed in New Zealand and is well-suited to a wide range of climates, including colder regions.

Reka Blueberry shrubs typically grow to be 4-6 feet tall and 4-6 feet wide. They have a dense, upright habit of growth and medium green leaves. The leaves are oval-shaped and have a serrated margin. In the spring, the shrubs produce clusters of white flowers. The flowers are followed by medium-sized, light blue berries that ripen in early to mid-season. The berries are firm and have a sweet, delicious flavor.

Reka Blueberry shrubs are relatively low-maintenance plants. They prefer full sun to partial shade and well-drained, acidic soil. They are also drought-tolerant once established. Reka Blueberry shrubs do not require much pruning, but they can be pruned in the late winter or early spring to remove dead or damaged branches and to maintain their shape.

Here are some tips for growing Reka Blueberry shrubs:

  • Choose a planting site that receives full sun to partial shade and has well-drained, acidic soil.
  • Amend the soil with compost or other organic matter before planting.
  • Water regularly, especially during the first growing season.
  • Fertilize in the spring with a balanced fertilizer that is specifically formulated for blueberries.
  • Mulch around the base of the shrubs to help retain moisture and suppress weeds.
  • Prune in the late winter or early spring to remove dead or damaged branches and to maintain the shape.

With proper care, Reka Blueberry shrubs can thrive for many years and provide you with a bountiful harvest of delicious blueberries.

Note: The plant is shipped in its pot, firmly secured with several layers of clear tape, thereby avoiding any shuffling and moving during transit. The plant reaches you with minimal damage- very safe and secure. We have been shipping plants like this for several years (plant are sometimes shipped in smaller pots for safety and ease of shipping). Most plants go dormant in fall and winter and will lose most of their leaves - looking dead and dry - very normal. They will flush out in spring.

We cannot send ship some plants and some sizes to California due to restrictions placed by department of agriculture.

Note
Please note that the plant will be shipped in its pot, securely fastened with multiple layers of clear tape to prevent any shifting or damage during transit. This ensures that the plant arrives to you with minimal damage, safely and securely. We have been employing this method for shipping plants for several years, occasionally using smaller pots for added safety and convenience during transit. It's important to understand that many plants enter a dormant state during the fall and winter months, resulting in the loss of most leaves and appearing dry or lifeless. This is a natural process, and come springtime, they will begin to regrow and thrive once again. Please be aware that due to regulations set by the Department of Agriculture, there are certain plants and sizes that we are unable to ship to California. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
