Acoma Crape Myrtle is still blooming right now — its pure white flower clusters keep opening from mid-summer well into fall, one of the longest color windows of any Southern flowering tree.

Acoma is a University of Georgia Extension–listed cultivar (a U.S. National Arboretum release) with high resistance to powdery mildew and good exfoliating bark for winter interest — a semi-dwarf, weeping form that tops out around 5–10 feet, ideal where a full-size crape myrtle won't fit.

One seasonal note: if you're planning to prune, don't do it now. UGA Extension specifically warns against pruning crape myrtles in early fall before the first frost, since it forces tender new growth that a sudden freeze can damage. Wait until late winter to early spring — and even then, crape myrtles bloom on new growth regardless of pruning, so the aggressive "topping" some landscapers do (sometimes called "crape murder") isn't necessary and weakens the tree over time.
