Here are some tips for planting and caring for your dogwood trees:
- Choose a planting site that receives full sun to partial shade.
- Dogwood trees prefer well-drained, acidic soil.
- Amend the soil with compost or manure before planting.
- Space the trees 15-20 feet apart.
- Water the trees regularly, especially during the first year after planting.
- Fertilize the trees in the spring with a balanced fertilizer.
- Prune the trees in late winter or early spring to remove dead or diseased branches.
With proper care, your dogwood trees will thrive for many years to come.
Here are some additional tips:
- Mulch around the trees to help retain moisture and suppress weeds.
- Be careful not to overwater your dogwood trees, as this can lead to root rot.
- Watch for pests and diseases, such as borers, anthracnose, and leaf spot. Treat any problems immediately to prevent them from spreading.
Enjoy your beautiful dogwood trees!
Note: The plant is shipped in its pot, firmly secured with several layers of clear tape, thereby avoiding any shuffling and moving during transit. The plant reaches you with minimal damage- very safe and secure. We have been shipping plants like this for several years (plant are sometimes shipped in smaller pots for safety and ease of shipping). Most plants go dormant in fall and winter and will lose most of their leaves - looking dead and dry - very normal. They will flush out in spring.
We cannot send ship some plants and some sizes to California due to restrictions placed by department of agriculture.
