Sparkling Sangria Loropetalum is a large, bushy evergreen shrub with rich reddish-purple leaves and bright red flowers. It is a cultivar of Chinese Fringe Flower (Loropetalum chinense var. rubrum), and is named for its resemblance to the popular Spanish sparkling wine sangria.
Sparkling Sangria Loropetalum grows to be 10 feet tall and wide, and has a rounded to spreading habit. Its leaves are elliptical in shape and about 3 inches long. Most plants go dormant in fall and winter and will lose most of their leaves - looking dead and dry - very normal. They will flush out in spring.
