Ruellia brittoniana 'Compacta Pink'

Description

Ruellia brittoniana 'Compacta Pink' is a compact, floriferous perennial prized for its delicate pink, trumpet-shaped blooms and attractive, narrow green foliage. A dwarf selection of the Mexican petunia, this cultivar maintains a tidy, mounding habit and provides continuous color throughout the warmer months. It’s particularly valued in southern landscapes for its heat and humidity tolerance, along with easy care and resilience.

With its charming blooms that attract pollinators and its compact form, it's ideal for borders, containers, or low-maintenance garden edges.

Key Features:

  • Flower Color: Soft to medium pink, petunia-like flowers that bloom daily in warm weather.

  • Foliage: Narrow, deep green leaves with a slightly arching form.

  • Height & Spread: Grows about 12–15 inches tall and 12–18 inches wide.

  • Bloom Time: Late spring through fall, often blooming non-stop in warm climates.

  • Light Requirements: Full sun to part shade (best bloom in full sun).

  • Soil: Tolerates a variety of soils but prefers well-drained to moderately moist soil.

  • Hardiness: USDA zones 8–11; grow as an annual in colder zones.

  • Maintenance: Low maintenance; may be trimmed for shape or tidiness.

  • Pollinators: Attracts bees and butterflies.

  • Uses: Great for mass plantings, borders, containers, and pollinator gardens.

Note
Please note that the plant will be shipped in its pot, securely fastened with multiple layers of clear tape to prevent any shifting or damage during transit. This ensures that the plant arrives to you with minimal damage, safely and securely. We have been employing this method for shipping plants for several years, occasionally using smaller pots for added safety and convenience during transit. It's important to understand that many plants enter a dormant state during the fall and winter months, resulting in the loss of most leaves and appearing dry or lifeless. This is a natural process, and come springtime, they will begin to regrow and thrive once again. Please be aware that due to regulations set by the Department of Agriculture, there are certain plants and sizes that we are unable to ship to California. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
