Red Cascade Rose (Rosa 'Red Cascade') is a miniature rose that is known for its cascading clusters of red flowers. It is a compact shrub that typically grows 9-12 inches tall and up to 5' wide when planted in the ground (smaller if grown in containers). The flowers are about 1 inch in diameter and have a cupped shape. They bloom in flushes throughout the season.
Red Cascade Rose is hardy in USDA zones 5b through 10b. It prefers full sun and well-drained soil. It is relatively easy to care for and can be propagated from cuttings.
This rose is a good choice for a variety of landscape applications. It can be used as a groundcover, in mass plantings, or as a small climber. It is also effective when planted in pots, planters or hanging baskets where it can be allowed to cascade, as it were, over the sides.
Here are some tips for growing Red Cascade Rose:
- Plant in a location that receives full sun.
- Amend the soil with compost or peat moss to improve drainage.
- Water regularly, especially during the first year after planting.
- Fertilize in the spring with a balanced fertilizer.
- Deadhead spent flowers to encourage new blooms.
- Prune in the late winter or early spring to shape the plant.
With proper care, Red Cascade Rose will thrive in your garden for many years to come.
Here are some additional things to keep in mind when growing Red Cascade Rose:
- It is susceptible to black spot and powdery mildew, so it is important to water the plant at the base and avoid getting the leaves wet.
- It is also susceptible to deer, so you may need to protect it if you live in an area with deer.
Note: The plant is shipped in its pot, firmly secured with several layers of clear tape, thereby avoiding any shuffling and moving during transit. The plant reaches you with minimal damage- very safe and secure. We have been shipping plants like this for several years (plant are sometimes shipped in smaller pots for safety and ease of shipping). Most plants go dormant in fall and winter and will lose most of their leaves - looking dead and dry - very normal. They will flush out in spring.
We cannot send ship some plants and some sizes to California due to restrictions placed by department of agriculture.
