Home and Gardens For Less' Morus Rubra Red Mulberry is a delicious fruit tree grown in zones 5-9. It reaches 20-30ft tall and produces sweet, juicy berries.
Red mulberry is found throughout most of North America east of the Rockies, primarily in floodplains and other moist sites; in New England, it is native to western regions (one population in Rhode Island is probably an escape). Red mulberry is a welcome addition to the garden for its juicy, lightly sweet red fruits produced in August, which delight birds and make an excellent pie. Its light, soft, durable wood has been used to manufacture fence posts and furniture.
