Italian Honey Fig Tree

Description

The Italian Honey Fig is a great short season plant for those gardening in more northern regions.   Bright green skin hides the tawny-colored, sweet-flavored flesh inside. Best right off the tree... but if they make it to the kitchen, the fruit makes a delicious jam or pie.

  • Outdoors: Zone 7b - 10
  • Patio: Zone 4a - 11
  • Soil type: Rich, moist
  • Sun: 80 - 100%

Figs are easy to grow, delicious fruit producing trees often producing several pounds of fruit per year. Figs will grow happily and fruit in a pot or in-ground. They add a tasty accent to any outdoor space, garden or patio. In cooler zones a containerized Fig can be relocated indoors for the winter months.

When you receive your new Fig tree, there is no need to worry about planting right away. Your new plant can be stored for a while by simply placing it in a bucket with about a half inch of water and moving it to a shady location, simply keep moist. This will give you plenty of time to select the ideal location for your new Fig.

Note: The plant is shipped in its pot, firmly secured with several layers of clear tape, thereby avoiding any shuffling and moving during transit. The plant reaches you with minimal damage- very safe and secure. We have been shipping plants like this for several years (plant are sometimes shipped in smaller pots for safety and ease of shipping). Most plants go dormant in fall and winter and will lose most of their leaves - looking dead and dry - very normal. They will flush out in spring.

We cannot send ship some plants and some sizes to California due to restrictions placed by department of agriculture.

Note
Please note that the plant will be shipped in its pot, securely fastened with multiple layers of clear tape to prevent any shifting or damage during transit. This ensures that the plant arrives to you with minimal damage, safely and securely. We have been employing this method for shipping plants for several years, occasionally using smaller pots for added safety and convenience during transit. It's important to understand that many plants enter a dormant state during the fall and winter months, resulting in the loss of most leaves and appearing dry or lifeless. This is a natural process, and come springtime, they will begin to regrow and thrive once again. Please be aware that due to regulations set by the Department of Agriculture, there are certain plants and sizes that we are unable to ship to California. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
