'Big Daddy' is a reblooming mophead cultivar that will flower on both old and new growth. If flower buds are destroyed by severe winter conditions, the plant can still produce some sporadic flowering in summer on new growth. Old growth bloom occurs in June-July with a continuing rebloom on new growth occurring during the rest of the summer into fall. This shrub typically grows to 5-6' tall and as wide. Rounded snowball-like inflorescences (globose cymes) grow, as suggested by the cultivar name, to a whopping 12-14" diameter. Florets are pink in alkaline soils and blue in acidic soils. Deltoid leaves (to 6" long) are glossy dark green. U. S. Plant Patent PP14,527 was issued on February 10, 2004.
