Hosta Shadowland 'Voices In the Wind'

Description

Hosta Shadowland® 'Voices in the Wind' is an eye-catching large hosta known for its wavy, heart-shaped blue-green leaves with rippling edges that create movement and texture in the shade garden. As the season progresses, the foliage becomes more corrugated and holds its rich color well into summer. This variety forms an impressive clump, ideal for adding structure and drama to shaded borders or as a bold specimen.

Like other Shadowland hostas, it offers excellent substance, good resistance to pests like slugs, and a refined presence in the landscape. In midsummer, tall scapes bearing pale lavender flowers add vertical interest and attract pollinators.

Key Features:

  • Foliage: Large, thick, blue-green leaves with dramatically rippled edges; excellent substance and texture.

  • Flowers: Pale lavender blooms appear in mid to late summer on tall scapes.

  • Mature Size: 24–26 inches tall, 48–54 inches wide.

  • Light Requirements: Best in part to full shade; can tolerate some morning sun.

  • Soil: Moist, well-drained, rich in organic matter.

  • Hardiness: USDA zones 3–9.

  • Maintenance: Very low; clean up old foliage in spring, mulch to retain moisture.

  • Attracts: Hummingbirds and pollinators when in bloom.

  • Uses: Perfect for shade gardens, woodland edges, underplantings, or as a dramatic focal point.

Note
Please note that the plant will be shipped in its pot, securely fastened with multiple layers of clear tape to prevent any shifting or damage during transit. This ensures that the plant arrives to you with minimal damage, safely and securely. We have been employing this method for shipping plants for several years, occasionally using smaller pots for added safety and convenience during transit. It's important to understand that many plants enter a dormant state during the fall and winter months, resulting in the loss of most leaves and appearing dry or lifeless. This is a natural process, and come springtime, they will begin to regrow and thrive once again. Please be aware that due to regulations set by the Department of Agriculture, there are certain plants and sizes that we are unable to ship to California. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
