Hosta 'Lakeside Paisley' – hosta
Hosta 'Lakeside Paisley'
Description

Hosta 'Lakeside Paisley Print' is widely regarded as one of the most uniquely patterned hostas available, known for its dramatic variegation and outstanding garden performance. The heart-shaped leaves feature rich, dark green margins surrounding an irregular creamy-yellow center that streaks toward the leaf base in a paisley-like pattern hence its name. It offers strong texture and color contrast, making it a standout specimen in any shade garden or container arrangement.

This variety is not only beautiful but also durable, forming a dense mound with excellent substance and good resistance to slugs.

Key Features:

  • Foliage: Heart-shaped leaves with creamy yellow centers and wide, deep green margins. The variegation is distinct, often with paisley-like streaks extending toward the leaf base.

  • Mature Size: Reaches about 10–12 inches tall and 20–24 inches wide, forming a dense, compact clump.

  • Flowers: Lavender to pale purple tubular flowers bloom in mid to late summer on short scapes.

  • Light Requirements: Grows best in part to full shade; morning sun may enhance leaf coloration without damage.

  • Soil: Prefers rich, moist, well-drained soil. Mulching helps conserve moisture and keep roots cool.

  • Hardiness: USDA zones 3–9.

  • Maintenance: Easy to maintain. Slug-resistant due to thick leaf substance. Divide every few years if needed.

  • Uses: Ideal for the front of borders, containers, or as a focal point in shaded garden beds. Provides strong visual interest and contrast when paired with solid-colored or blue hostas.

Note
Please note that the plant will be shipped in its pot, securely fastened with multiple layers of clear tape to prevent any shifting or damage during transit. This ensures that the plant arrives to you with minimal damage, safely and securely. We have been employing this method for shipping plants for several years, occasionally using smaller pots for added safety and convenience during transit. It's important to understand that many plants enter a dormant state during the fall and winter months, resulting in the loss of most leaves and appearing dry or lifeless. This is a natural process, and come springtime, they will begin to regrow and thrive once again. Please be aware that due to regulations set by the Department of Agriculture, there are certain plants and sizes that we are unable to ship to California. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
