Hosta 'Dancing Queen'

Description

Hosta 'Dancing Queen' is a show-stopping variety known for its brilliant, bold color and elegant form. It is one of the few hostas that emerges bright yellow in spring and holds that vivid color well into the season, even in shadier conditions. As the plant matures, it forms a graceful, arching mound of deeply ruffled foliage with prominent veining that adds rich texture to shade gardens. This variety brings a splash of sunshine to darker garden corners and is equally stunning as a specimen plant or part of a layered border.

Key Features:

  • Foliage: Bright golden-yellow leaves with deeply rippled edges and strong veining; retains color well through the season.

  • Mature Size: Typically reaches about 18 inches tall and spreads 30 to 36 inches wide, forming a wide, arching mound.

  • Flowers: Pale lavender flowers appear in midsummer on tall, contrasting scapes, providing a soft complement to the vivid foliage.

  • Sun Requirements: Prefers part to full shade; can tolerate some morning sun, which may enhance leaf color.

  • Soil: Thrives in moist, well-drained, rich soil with consistent moisture.

  • Hardiness: Hardy in USDA zones 3–9.

  • Maintenance: Low-maintenance and relatively pest-resistant.

  • Uses: Excellent for shade borders, woodland gardens, and as a bright focal point in hosta collections or container plantings.

Note
Please note that the plant will be shipped in its pot, securely fastened with multiple layers of clear tape to prevent any shifting or damage during transit. This ensures that the plant arrives to you with minimal damage, safely and securely. We have been employing this method for shipping plants for several years, occasionally using smaller pots for added safety and convenience during transit. It's important to understand that many plants enter a dormant state during the fall and winter months, resulting in the loss of most leaves and appearing dry or lifeless. This is a natural process, and come springtime, they will begin to regrow and thrive once again. Please be aware that due to regulations set by the Department of Agriculture, there are certain plants and sizes that we are unable to ship to California. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
