Lynwood Gold

Lynwood Gold (Forsythia × intermedia 'Lynwood Gold') is a popular deciduous shrub known for its bright yellow flowers that bloom in early spring. It is a hybrid of two forsythia species, F. suspensa and F. viridissima, and was developed in the 1960s.

Lynwood Gold forsythia can grow up to 8 feet tall and 6 feet wide, and has a dense, upright habit. The leaves are medium green and turn yellow in the fall. The flowers are about 1 inch in diameter and appear in clusters before the leaves emerge. They have a mild, sweet fragrance and attract pollinators such as bees and butterflies.

Lynwood Gold forsythia is a low-maintenance plant that is easy to grow. It prefers full sun to partial shade and well-drained soil. It is tolerant of a wide range of soil types and pH levels, and is also drought tolerant once established.

Lynwood Gold forsythia is a versatile plant that can be used in a variety of landscape settings. It is often used as a foundation plant, border shrub, or specimen plant. It can also be grown in containers.

Here are some tips for growing Lynwood Gold forsythia:

  • Choose a sunny spot with well-drained soil.
  • Plant the shrub in the spring or fall.
  • Water the shrub regularly, especially during the first year after planting.
  • Fertilize the shrub in the spring with a balanced fertilizer.
  • Mulch around the shrub to help retain moisture and suppress weeds.
  • Prune the shrub in the late winter or early spring to remove dead or damaged branches and to shape the plant.

Lynwood Gold forsythia is a beautiful and carefree plant that is a great addition to any landscape. It is sure to add a touch of spring cheer to your yard or garden.

Note: The plant is shipped in its pot, firmly secured with several layers of clear tape, thereby avoiding any shuffling and moving during transit. The plant reaches you with minimal damage- very safe and secure. We have been shipping plants like this for several years (plant are sometimes shipped in smaller pots for safety and ease of shipping). Most plants go dormant in fall and winter and will lose most of their leaves - looking dead and dry - very normal. They will flush out in spring.

We cannot send ship some plants and some sizes to California due to restrictions placed by department of agriculture.

Growing Zones: 6-9

Mature Height: 5 to 6 Feet

Mature width: 5 to 6 Feet
Botanical Name: Forsythia intermedia 'Lynwood Gold'
Note
Please note that the plant will be shipped in its pot, securely fastened with multiple layers of clear tape to prevent any shifting or damage during transit. This ensures that the plant arrives to you with minimal damage, safely and securely. We have been employing this method for shipping plants for several years, occasionally using smaller pots for added safety and convenience during transit. It's important to understand that many plants enter a dormant state during the fall and winter months, resulting in the loss of most leaves and appearing dry or lifeless. This is a natural process, and come springtime, they will begin to regrow and thrive once again. Please be aware that due to regulations set by the Department of Agriculture, there are certain plants and sizes that we are unable to ship to California. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
