Country Cousins Aromi Azalea

With gorgeous flowers that light up and fill the garden with a wonderful spicy aroma, the Country Cousin Aromi Azalea is a deciduous Rhododendron hybrid that produces abundant clusters of almost red buds that open to exquisite, large, spicy-sweet scented trumpet flowers with bright, rich pink petals and light glowing centers decorated with a golden-orange blotch. Heat and humidity tolerance, vigor, fragrance, and unique color all come together for an absolutely stunning color display and delicious aroma in the spring garden!

Country Cousin is one of many Aromi Hybrid deciduous rhododendron selections developed by Dr. Aromi. In hopes that they might be enjoyed throughout a much broader range of the US, and especially for the hot and humid climate of the South, Dr. Aromi used native species as well as hybrids in breeding to develop this heat tolerant series with the same if not improved colors, vigor, and fragrance of our native deciduous azalea species.

• Specialty - Fragrant clusters of red buds open to rich pink flowers with lighter centers and a prominent gold splotch that blooms in late spring into summer. Best grown in part sun and rich, moist, acidic well-drained soils. Country Cousins is heat and humidity tolerant.

Note: The plant is shipped in its pot, firmly secured with several layers of clear tape, thereby avoiding any shuffling and moving during transit. The plant reaches you with minimal damage- very safe and secure. We have been shipping plants like this for several years (plant are sometimes shipped in smaller pots for safety and ease of shipping). Most plants go dormant in fall and winter and will lose most of their leaves - looking dead and dry - very normal. They will flush out in spring.
