Panicum 'Hot Rod' Switchgrass
Panicum virgatum 'Hot Rod' (PP26074) is a compact, upright, clump-forming grass with excellent vertical form. Blue-green foliage during the growing season turns a deep burgundy in summer and into autumn. In late summer, attractive purple-red flower panicles are produced. These are held well above the leaves, and evolve into showy seed heads that provide winter interest—and a haven for wintering songbirds. Panicum virgatum 'Hot Rod', which colours earlier in the season than most other grasses, reaches 90cm in height. It looks great as a specimen plant, but spectacular when planted en masse.
Growing and caring for Panicum 'Hot Rod' Switchgrass:

Note: The plant is shipped in its pot, firmly secured with several layers of clear tape, thereby avoiding any shuffling and moving during transit. Most plants go dormant in fall and winter and will lose most of their leaves - looking dead and dry - very normal. They will flush out in spring.
