SpinTop Red Starburst Blanket Flower – Vivid Red-Yellow Perennial (Gaillardia 'SpinTop Red Starburst')
Description

Gaillardia 'SpinTop Red Starburst' is a dazzling, low-maintenance perennial known for its intense red blooms with golden-yellow tips that resemble a starburst. Part of the SpinTop Series, this cultivar is bred for a compact, mounding habit and long blooming period, making it ideal for borders, containers, or pollinator-friendly gardens.

Its daisy-like flowers are held atop sturdy stems above neat mounds of green foliage. Exceptionally heat and drought tolerant, this blanket flower is a magnet for bees and butterflies and blooms profusely from early summer through fall.

Key Features:

  • Flowers: Bright red petals with golden-yellow tips and a central red cone; daisy-like and abundant.

  • Bloom Time: Late spring to frost (very long blooming season).

  • Height & Spread: Compact habit, typically 10–12 inches tall and 12–14 inches wide.

  • Light Requirements: Full sun for best flowering and plant health.

  • Soil: Well-drained soil; thrives in average to poor soils, drought tolerant once established.

  • Hardiness: USDA zones 4–9.

  • Maintenance: Low; deadhead to prolong blooming. Avoid wet or heavy soils to prevent crown rot.

  • Pollinators: Attracts bees, butterflies, and other beneficial insects.

Note
Please note that the plant will be shipped in its pot, securely fastened with multiple layers of clear tape to prevent any shifting or damage during transit. This ensures that the plant arrives to you with minimal damage, safely and securely. We have been employing this method for shipping plants for several years, occasionally using smaller pots for added safety and convenience during transit. It's important to understand that many plants enter a dormant state during the fall and winter months, resulting in the loss of most leaves and appearing dry or lifeless. This is a natural process, and come springtime, they will begin to regrow and thrive once again. Please be aware that due to regulations set by the Department of Agriculture, there are certain plants and sizes that we are unable to ship to California. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
